11 Key Questions For Video Production

10/24/2013

By Jim Shumate

More To Making A Video Than A Camera

It never fails to surprise me how people equate taking a video on their mobile phone with a professionally produced video. The right professional producer can direct a video that makes you or your product a world beater.  And that video can be edited and marketed in a great many ways for a long time.

11 Key Elements In A Video Quote

The first thing we want to know when preparing an estimate is what is the purpose of your video?  Is it to help sell a product or introduce your company to a new market? Or are you making the video for a podcast?

Here are some things to consider when contemplating a video production.
  1. Are we filming on location or in a studio?
  2. Will you need an infinity wall or green screen?
  3. Who is doing your make-up and hair?
  4. Do you want a professional spokesperson or are you the actor?
  5. Do you have a script or need one written?
  6. Will you need a teleprompter and technician?
  7. Does your video involve one person stationary or multiple people?
  8. Do you have special sound requirements?
  9. Will we need to use customized lighting?
  10. How many purposes will your video serve?
  11. What is your expected return on investment?

Secret 5: Trim Your Story

Write your story to the end trimming it for timing purposes. Now when you have finished, take your copy and tape it to the mirror and rehearse. Remember you are sending a message to millions of viewers in cyber space about you, your product or your service.

7 Secrets to Improve Your Online Videos

By Troy Bowman
Here is the first of two posts about the 7 secrets production companies don’t want you to know to improve the quality of your online videos.

Secret 1: Write Down What You Want to Talk About

If it is more than one typed page cut it down. One typed page is usually about 60 seconds of video time. Since the average person’s attention span is about 15 seconds, even if you have the antidote to an incurable disease no one will be paying attention.

Now that you have one typed page cut it in half. Your viewers will thank you for a basic 30 second piece as opposed to a brilliant sixty second piece.

Secret 2: Start at the End
