7 Secrets to Improve Your Online Videos
By Troy Bowman
Here is the first of two posts about the 7 secrets production companies don’t want you to know to improve the quality of your online videos.
Secret 1: Write Down What You Want to Talk About
If it is more than one typed page cut it down. One typed page is usually about 60 seconds of video time. Since the average person’s attention span is about 15 seconds, even if you have the antidote to an incurable disease no one will be paying attention.
Now that you have one typed page cut it in half. Your viewers will thank you for a basic 30 second piece as opposed to a brilliant sixty second piece.

Secret 2: Start at the End
When composing your brilliant composition think of a beginning middle and end. Let’s take the ending first.
I like to work with the ending because it tells me where I am going to end up and how I am going to build my piece to get there. Before writing your ending think to yourself, what do you want to leave your audience with? What do you want them to walk away with? Information? How to do something? Why they should buy something from you? You get the idea.

Secret 3: Think About Your Opening Statement
It should engage the viewer. You could start by asking a question.
Again you get the idea. Keep it simple and to the point.
Next week we will publish our second in this series on how to write great copy that sells for videos.
- Has this ever happened to you?
- How many times have you wished you could be a millionaire?
- Have you ever wanted to drive a lamborghini?
Again you get the idea. Keep it simple and to the point.
